So This is What It’s Like in the Real World

Wow, so this is what it’s like over in the East Wing. Nice. I’ve been stuck in the dungeon for the past year and a half. Ooh! Windows! No one ever told me that you could actually see the sun and clouds. I bet the gruel is better over here, too.

I really like what you’ve done to the place. It looks different from when I came through here last time, sometime around the beginning of 2012. And people! There are tons of readers and writers hanging out here, too!

For those who may not know, I came to Indies Unlimited in February of 2012. I’m still picking pieces of stone out of my scabs from my tumble down the damp and mildewed dungeon stairs. If it weren’t for landing on David Antrobus, I would have broken my neck. Speaking of Antrobus, HE left the dungeon a long time ago–and never heard from again.

So, the Evil Mastermind, on his way to world dominance, tucked my post away each week until Saturday night. SATURDAY NIGHT! For God’s sake, who’s on Indies Unlimited on a Saturday night?

Quite honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Saturday night was easy. I had never written for a blog before, at least a real one. Saturday night was safe. I could post away and never have to worry about anybody ever reading my stuff. When I started this, the thought of submitting weekly terrified me. I could barely remember to take a shower once a week, let alone write an article.

But, as I got into it, I found that this is a really supportive and cool group of people—both the cool cats writing for IU and the faithful followers of the blog. I’ve met many whom I consider friends and discovered some very talented writers.

So here I am, sliding into the Monday posting slot. I hope to keep the posts interactive, interesting and occasionally, emotional. I speak from the heart, which means that I sometimes get a little corny. I’ll end this post the same way I ended my first ever post on IU, “… I hope that I can live up to the standard that IU has become in a few short months years. Thanks for having me.”

  1. Yeah, what Yvonne said. I bet that’s how EM sold it to you, right? 😉

Seriously — I’m looking forward to reading your posts in daylight. 🙂 I always learn something from them.

  2. What everyone else has said, Jim, and I’d just like to add that I always find your posts upbeat and sunny, kind of how I imagine Florida (never having been there) to be.
