Shirley You Jest Book Awards is now accepting submissions of parody, satire, farce, dark comedy & novels with strong comedic and/or humorous elements in the following fiction genres: romance (No erotica), mystery, thriller/suspense, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal and YA. Print and eBook titles published or self-published in 2011 and 2012 are eligible.

The submissions deadline is August 1, 2012. The entry fee is $50 per title, limit of two titles per entrant. The prizes are promo packages detailed here.

Cinnamon Press Short Story Award

Cinnamon PressThe Cinnamon Press Short Story Award competition is now accepting submissions from new and published authors. The first prize for a story between 2,000 and 4,000 words is £100 & publication. Up to ten runners up stories’ are also published in the winners’ anthology. Entry includes a copy of the winners’ anthology.

Entry fee is £16 per entry for all categories (this includes a copy of the winners anthology for the poet and short story categories, worth £8.99)

The deadline for submissions is 30th June 2012.

Sentinel Literary Quarterly Short Story Competition

Sentinel Literary QuarterlyThe Sentinel Literary Quarterly Short Story Competition on any subject or style which have NOT have been previously published, or posted on a website or blog. The three winning Short Stories, and three highly commended Short Stories will receive first publication in Sentinel Champions magazine in print and eBook in February 2013. The authors will each receive a free contributor’s copy.

Hillerman Mystery Short Story Contest

Hillerman PrizeThe Tony Hillerman Mystery Short Story contest is now accepting submissions for mystery short stories that are 2,500 words or less, written in English, set primarily in New Mexico. The story must be previously unpublished. All entries must be postmarked no later than August 15.

There is a $20 entry fee. The winning story will be published in an issue of New Mexico Magazine, probably the February issue which is devoted to books and reading.The winner will receive two tickets to the awards ceremony at the Tony Hillerman Writers Conference and other prizes to be announced shortly.
