Writer’s Digest is now accepting entries in the 72nd installment of “Your Story.” Write a short story, of 700 words or fewer, based on the photo on their contest page. Judging criteria are inventiveness, creativity and — where appropriate — humor. One entry per person.

The 2016 Nightlight Readings Short Story Writers Contest is open to short stories up to 5000 words. Stories should appeal to at-risk boys in the 10-12 year age group who often stop reading for pleasure. This year’s theme is mystery.
BBC Radio is now accepting original stories on any subject or theme for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show’s 500 Words competition. Entries can be of any length up to 500 words. Entrants must be between the ages of 5 and 13 and must have the assistance of an adult in order to participate.
