Earlyworks Press Short Story Competition Earlyworks Press is now accepting submissions up to 8000 words for its 2012 Short Story Competition. The best entries will be published, and their authors will receive one complimentary copy of the anthology. 10-20 will be included, depending on length and quality. The entry fee is £5 per story up to 4000 words, and £10 for over 4000 words. THE INTERNATIONAL AEON AWARD SHORT FICTION CONTEST FOR FANTASY, SCIENCE FICTION & HORROR

The Aeon Award is a fiction writing competition for short stories in any speculative fiction genre, i.e. fantasy, science fiction, horror or anything in-between or unclassifiable! The Aeon Award short fiction contest has a Grand Prize of €1000 and publication in Albedo One! Second and third place prizes are €200 and €100 as well as guaranteed publication in Albedo One, the leading Irish magazine of science fiction, fantasy and horror.

The submission deadline for the first round is March 31st, the second round June 30th, the third round September 30th and the final round November 30th.

All stories entered in the Aeon Award short fiction contest must be accompanied by a modest entry fee of €7.50 (euro).

Five Stop Story 2012 Monthly Short Story Competitions

Five Stop Story’s Monthly Short Story Competition welcomes stories of up to 3,000 words on any subject or theme. Open to UK and international entrants aged 16 and over. Closing dates: Last day of each month.

The prizes are: £50 prize for the winner of each month’s competition. £150 prize for the overall winner of the 2012 Five Stop Story author league. Publication on the Five Stop Story website and the Five Stop Story iPhone and iPad app for all winners, runners up and honorary mentions.

The 2012 3INTO1 Competition is offering a £1,000 prize for a short story of up to 3,000 words.

There is only one rule: the story must incorporate and link these three items… a black queen chess piece, a bunch of fresh flowers, a £10 note.
