Flash Fiction Challenge: Unguided Tour

The pilot was the only one injured, but he was as good as dead if the locals had heard the crash. There was nothing to do but leave him behind and make our way back to the east as best we could.

Less than half a mile away from the site, we heard his screams. They had found him. No doubt they would soon be on our trail.

Flash Fiction Challenge: The Headsman’s Block

This stump is the infamous Headsman’s Block. Countless outlaws met their end here. The ancient wood is scarred from the edge of the headsman’s blade as it bit through the necks of the condemned.

In the whole sordid history of the block, only one prisoner managed to escape the headsman’s cold sharp steel.
