The Baltimore Review Winter Contest

The Baltimore Review seeks short fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry on the theme of the future. Word limit is 3000 for prose or up to three poems per entry.

Prizes:  First place, $500; Second place, $200; Third place, $100. All entries will be considered for publication.

Reading fee: $10 per submission.

Writers’ Village International Short Fiction Award

Any genre of prose fiction may be submitted up to 3000 words, except playscripts and poetry. Entries are welcomed world-wide. Winners will be awarded the title ‘Winner, the Writers’ Village International Short Fiction Award 2013’ and see their work showcased online. All contestants gain a helpful critique of their story, win or lose – a feature thought to be unique among low-fee writing contests.

Aesthetica Creative Writing Competition

Aesthetica magazine is accepting submissions of poetry and short fiction for their Creative Writing Competition. Open to all writers, regardless of theme and experience.

Call for Submissions: Mystery Times

Mystery Times is still accepting submissions of mystery short stories for its 2013 anthology. All mystery genres are welcome, as long as they’re written in English, previously unpublished, and are from 3000 to 7000 words.

Prizes:

First and second prize, a new Kindle and featured placement in the anthology. Third prize, $25 gift card and featured placement in the anthology.
