Baltimore Review LogoHeat is the contest theme for the Baltimore Review’s summer issue. They are accepting works in the fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry categories. There is a $10 entry fee.

1st place prize – $300, 2nd place prize $200, 3rd place prize $100. First-place winner will be published. All entries will be considered for publication. The deadline is May 30, 2012.

34th Nimrod Literary Awards

NimrodThe 34th Nimrod Literary Awards is now accepting submissions for the Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction & the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry.

The prize for first place is $2,000 and publication; the prize for second place is $1,000 and publication.

Postmark Deadline: April 30, 2012. Entry/Subscription Fee: $20 includes both entry fee & a one-year subscription (two issues).

Biff Bam Pop Premiere Short Story Anthology 2012

This fall, Biff Bam Pop! will be publishing their first e-book of prose short stories. They’re specifically looking for imaginative fiction with elements of the horror, thriller and/or suspense genres.

Submissions are open to readers of Biff Bam Pop! and their friends and family, across the globe, who are over the age of 18. There is a limit of one submission per person.  The deadline is April 1, 2012.

Fantasy-Faction Anthology

This Fantasy writing contest is looking for stories, of up to 8000 words, within any fantasy sub-genre. This could be traditional fantasy, epic fantasy, urban fantasy, steam-punk, and so on. $500 prize for the best Short Story, with runner up prizes of $250 and $125.  Six stories will be published in their Fantasy-Faction Anthology.  There is no entry fee.  The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2012.
