Facebook Holiday Fest!

Facebook Holiday FestThe holidays are now upon us. How about spreading some holiday cheer by showing some love to our Facebook pages?

This is how it works: If you are a person with a Facebook page you’re welcome to join in. This is not limited to being an author, publisher, publicist, literary agent, book reviewer, librarian, (but if you’re a book-lover – that’s awesome!), etc., in the comments below, paste in the link for your Facebook Page. Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up. (“Likes” from other PAGES do not count. Only “likes” from personal accounts register.)

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

This should be fun and should generate a lot of likes, follows, etc. for everyone who plays. Let’s get the party started!

To those with concerns about the ethical implications of “liking” a book you have not read, we regard  likes as more analogous to a “high five” than a rating or review. We do not support the idea of rating or reviewing a book you have never read.

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by liking those who like you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.

December Barnes & Noble Nook Fest

Barnes & Noble LogoI don’t know about you, but I’m not too happy with Barnes & Noble right now. After the Nook Press for Print announcement, I bet a lot of authors are shaking their heads. But our books are still there – so how about joining in on a Barnes & Noble book page fest?

This is how it works: If you are an author with a book listed on Barnes&Noble.com, in the comments below, write a SHORT one sentence blurb about ONE of your books, then paste in your link to that book below it. (If you post more than one book, to be fair to everyone else, we will delete all except for the top link, so please behave and post only ONE book link! And please do NOT paste your author page.) Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up.  If you’re a publisher, editor, librarian, or reader, please check out these book pages – you may see something you like!

Just so there is NO question about what should be clicked or shared where, check out this screen capture:

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

This should be fun and should generate a lot of likes for everyone’s books. Let’s get things moving – and here’s a book to get you started: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/upgrade-stephen-hise/1100074854.

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by liking the other pages. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.

IU is a safe-for-work site. PLEASE do not post links to erotica, religious, or political books.

December Video Trailer View-fest

YouTube_FINALWe’ve seen some really good video trailers here lately. Don’t have one? This video trailer resource page should help. Check it out, then come back here and post a link to ONE of your video trailers below so we can show it some love!

And don’t forget, you can vote for the November Video Trailer of the Month. Meanwhile, if you’d like your trailer featured on IU, check out our submission requirements, and now let’s show our own videos some love with a YouTube LikeFest!

This is how it works: If you are an author, in the comments below, paste in the link for your YouTube book trailer video. (ONE trailer per person, please!) Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up.

This should be fun and should generate a lot of likes, follows, etc. for everyone who plays. I’ll kick things off with ours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxpeL2u7FIk. (Okay, so that’s not a book trailer, but it’s pretty cool anyway!) Now let’s get the party started!

Don’t sweat it if your trailer embeds. We’ll fix it.

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by liking those who like you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.

November Twitter Fest

hashtag tweeterHere at IU, we are always trying to make things better. I know, we’re already so awesome – how is that possible, you ask! We’ve just migrated to a newer, more bionic hosting provider so that you can enjoy lightning fast responses from the IU site. Unfortunately, some complications arose during our site migration, and we had to close comments on last week’s follow-fest. Things were hopping, so here is a re-run for you. Thank you for your patience!

Have you been feeling lonely on Twitter lately? Well, our Jim Devitt wrote a couple of posts which might help you get more eyes on your tweets. Check that out, then come back here and have some fun with the November Twitter Fest.

This is how it works: If you are an author, publisher, publicist, literary agent, book reviewer, (or especially a book-lover), etc., in the comments below, paste in the link for your Twitter Handle. Tweet the link to this post, inviting all your followers to do the same. Make sure you show some love to the handles in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up. (Remember: If you right-click the link, you can open it in a new tab so you don’t have to constantly page back and forth.)

This should be fun and should generate a lot of follows for everyone who plays. We’ll kick things off with ours. Let’s get the party started! http://www.twitter.com/IndiesUnlimited.

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by following those who follow you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.
