The Florida Review’s 2012 Editors’ Award

The Florida ReviewThe University of Central Florida’s The Florida Review is pleased to announce the guidelines for their 2012 Editors’ Awards in fiction, essay, and poetry.

One First Place winner in each genre will receive publication and $1000; and one finalist in each genre will also receive publication.  Submit a story or essay (up to 30 pages) or up to 5 poems. The entry fee of $15 includes a one-year subscription to The Florida Review.  The deadline is  March 17, 2012.

The Writers Place Poetry Contest

The Writers PlaceThe Writers Place new poetry contest is accepting submissions.   Early submissions must be electronically submitted not later than 1st of February. Final deadline for submissions is February 15th for an additional fee of $5.00 per script.

Standard Submission Fees: for up to 3 poems: $10.00; and multiple submissions (more than 3, not more than 6 poems or 10 pages): $15.00

Video Trailer: The Marshall Connors Series, by Allen Schatz

This is the book video trailer for Allen Schatz’ Marshall Connors series. Allen started writing formally in 2008 and released his first novel, Game 7: Dead Ball, in February 2011. He followed that up with two sequels (7th Inning Death and Rally Killer). The stories are mysteries with a baseball canvas.

Prism International’s Short Fiction Contest

University of British ColumbiaThe University of British Columbia is hosting a SHORT FICTION CONTEST in Prism International as part of their Creative Writing Program.  The deadline to enter is  January 27, 2012.

A $2000 grand prize is awarded to the best original, unpublished story (maximum 25 double-spaced pages) and the winner receives publication payment in the Fiction Contest Issue! Two runner-up prizes of $200 dollars are also conferred. Works of translation are eligible.

The entry fee is $28 for one story ($30 if submitting online), and $7 for each additional story. All entrants receive a one-year subscription to PRISM.
