Book Blogger Spotlight: I Am, Indeed

Today, the Book Blogger Spotlight falls upon Gaele, from I Am, Indeed. This amazing book blogger was a veterinary science major at university with a bent for English literature, American and British.

The transition from reader to reviewer was a natural one for Gaele. “I don’t remember a time when I didn’t read, and I’ve always been fascinated with language and words. I was a kid who traveled often, so books were easy to transport and bring along, and being able to hide in other worlds kept boredom at bay. It wasn’t unusual to see me with 3 or 4 different books in a bag or backpack, and I’ve had and used and worn out library cards, getting my first when I was 4. With the advent of eBooks, an iPad and a Kindle Fire; both exposure and ability to get new titles near instantly kept me feeding my reader with titles in all genres. When I started to see the profusion of review sites, I put my name in the pot for a couple of positions on review teams, and was chosen. Between those site owners giving me a chance, and my own type-A go all in or go home attitude, a book blog was born. Then as time has gone on, I’ve spent time working on my review skills: from running a small review team for an eMagazine, to encouraging and helping new reviewers, writing guest posts about reviews and still managing to write reviews for 3 sites beside my own I’m pretty busy. Additionally, I still beta read for (last count) ten authors, and I have started editing (copy/proof/line) and two of my edited titles are now released.” Continue reading “Book Blogger Spotlight: I Am, Indeed”

Book Blogger Spotlight: All That’s Written

If you don’t already know her, meet Lucy Pireel. She is the force behind the book blog, All That’s Written. Lucy is also an author and started her blog to give some unknown authors a place to showcase themselves and their work. She says when she reads a book she likes, or comes across an author who has great ideas, she wants to help spread the word.

Lucy sees the blog as serving a dual purpose: “As an author myself I would hope that my paying it forward helps me when I release a book into the world, because readers know where to find my blog by now.” But there is another, secret reason behind her blog. Lucy says, “But to be honest I wanted to get to know these authors. (Hey, I’m only human, with a most human flaw, I’m curious about what makes people tick: i.e. nosy bugger.) And why not share what I found out about them with the world on a blog?” Continue reading “Book Blogger Spotlight: All That’s Written”

Book Blogger Spotlight: Blue House Review

Meet Lauren Scharhag, the force behind Blue House Review. She is also the author of nine titles, runs a separate author blog, does marketing and PR at her day job, and freelance editing, proofreading, writing, and translating on the side. Whew. I get tired just writing down all the stuff she does.

Lauren says, “I’ve always been an avid reader of reviews—not just books, but films and TV as well. My first paid writing gig was reviewing back when I was in junior high—the Kansas City Star had a teen section and I did reviews on books, TV shows and films for several years there, as well as the occasional humor column. I have started reviewing again because, as an author, I understand how important reviews are. Besides my review blog, I’m a regular reviewer for Horror-Net and Urban Fantasy Land.” Continue reading “Book Blogger Spotlight: Blue House Review”

Book Blogger Spotlight: Random Reviews by Leanne

Leanne Herrera is the blogger behind Random Reviews by Leanne. She is a mother, wife, grandmother, artist and author. Leanne is also an author, currently working on her second book and reworking her first one. She also reviews and beta reads when she can. She says she is a fast reader and generally can go through several books in a day.

Leanne says she always loved reading. “The need to discuss books has always been overpowering to the point that I often nag friends and family to read the books so that we could discuss them. When I started my blog, I wrote about my life and the book I was working on. Then someone asked me to review a book and I realized that I could talk about books and help authors at the same time. I love that I can help and do something I enjoy at the same time!” Continue reading “Book Blogger Spotlight: Random Reviews by Leanne”
