Flash 500 Flash Fiction Competition

Now in its fourth year, this quarterly competition has an open theme, but you only get 500 words to tell a story.

Prizes:  £500 for first prize (plus publication in Words with JAM); £100 for second prize; £50 for third prize.

Reading fee: £5 for one story; £8 for two.

When I heard that Kobo was gearing up to let authors upload books on preorder status, I didn’t know that Smashwords would soon be leading the charge on most of its premium channel distributors.
