Words with Jam First Page Competition 2012

Words with JamWords with Jam’s annual First Page Competition is now open with an increased first prize – DOUBLE what it was last year. They are looking for the most gripping, “read-on-able” first page of any genre. They state bribes can be sent in cash, but they guarantee they won’t do you much good.

The prizes are: 1st Prize – £500; 2nd Prize – £100; 3rd Prize – £50; and all three winning entries will be published in the August 2012 issue of Words with JAM.

The entry fee is £6 for one entry or £10 for two. The closing date is Friday, 8th June 2012.

Week 12 Flash Fiction Contest Winner: Monica Baguchinsky Lunn

Today we’re pleased to announce the winner of the 12th weekly Flash Fiction competition at Indies Unlimited.

Cactus Heart Call for Submissions

Cactus Heart PressCactus Heart, a new e-literary journal, seeks original poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art & photography.

They’re looking for spiny writing—writing that is sharp, relentless, coursing with energy and able to thrive in the harshest of places, all while maintaining a vulnerable, succulent interior.

Their inaugural issue – in full-color PDF format – is expected to go live May 15.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis,but must be received by April 15, 2012 to be considered for Issue #1.
