Twubs Follow Fest

twubs followThis past week, we had an article about registering your hashtag. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check it out and registered a #hashtag you want to share with the world.

This is how it works: If you are an author, publisher, publicist, literary agent, book reviewer, librarian (or especially a book-lover), etc., in the comments below, paste in the link for your Twubs hashtag. (Please, only ONE hashtag per person.) Make sure you show some love to the hashtags in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up. To get your link, merely go to your hashtag’s Twubs page and copy the link circled in pink at the top of the picture above (i.e. – http://twubs.com/MrPish).

Click on the person’s link in the comments section below, and you will go to their Twubs profile. Then click Join this Twub. (See photo above.)

This should be fun and should generate a lot of exposure for everyone who plays. Let’s get the party started!

Google Play Fest

Well will you look at this? Google is trying to compete with iTunes. You’d know all about that if you read RJ Crayton’s excellent post about getting your books onto Google Play. Want to let the world know your book is available there? Join us for the inaugural Google Play Book Page Like-fest!

This is how it works: If you are an author with a book listed on Google Play, in the comments below, write a SHORT one sentence blurb about ONE of your books, then paste in the link to that book below it. (If you post more than one book, to be fair to everyone else, we will delete all except for the top link, so please behave and post only ONE book – NOT your author page – there is no way to like those!) Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up.  If you’re a publisher, editor, or reader, please check out these book pages – you may see something you like! (BTW, liking a book on Google Play WILL show up in your GooglePlus feed. If you’re concerned that people think you are endorsing someone else’s book, you can always just write something like “hey, my friend’s book is on Google Play.”)

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

This should be fun and should generate a lot of likes for everyone’s books. Let’s get things moving – and here’s a book to get you started: https://play.google.com/store/books/details/K_S_Brooks_Mr_Pish_Goes_to_the_Farm?id=TQJoAwAAQBAJ

PLEASE do not post erotica titles. IU is a safe-for-work site.

To those with concerns about the ethical implications of “liking” a book you have not read, we regard  likes as more analogous to a “high five” than a rating or review. We do not support the idea of rating or reviewing a book you have never read.

Goodreads Spring-fest

This past Monday, Melinda Clayton showed us how to advertise with Goodreads. So how about we stir things up with a Goodreads like-fest?

Today you can share your author page and find new friends. For your profile, grab that URL which should look like this: https://www.goodreads.com/KSBrooks and paste it in the comments below.  (Not sure where to find your fancy URL? See the image below and look for the aqua arrow.) goodreads like buttonNow everyone can “Like” your author page.  The “Like” button is found about 1/3 of the way down the page on the same side as the author photo. Clicking on that will show that you like that author’s page on your Facebook wall. There’s also a Google+ button there, so if you have a Google+ account and you’re feeling generous, go ahead and click on that, too. Still not sure where the “like” button is? Click on this thumbnail to enlarge it and look for the magenta arrow.

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by liking those who like you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.

Google Plus Grow Your Circles Fest!

google+As Facebook fizzles into the sunset, more folks are turning to Google Plus. Our Jim Devitt wrote about Google Plus just last week. So how about we make some new friends on Google Plus?

This is how it works: If you are an author, publisher, publicist, literary agent, book reviewer, librarian (or especially a book-lover), etc., in the comments below, paste in the link for your Google Plus profile. Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours (by adding them to your circles), and check back throughout the day to catch up.

If you’re not sure what link to post, just find your profile, then copy and paste the URL. It should look something like this: https://plus.google.com/u/0/115965541971717273872

This should be fun and should generate a lot of exposure for everyone who plays. Let’s get things moving!

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by following those who follow you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.
