It was difficult for Professor Breverton to contain his excitement. Actual shovelhead ravens had never been photographed

He was president of the local chapter of the Oddobon Society, an organization dedicated to the documentation and study of animals thought to be mythological.

As he stopped to take a photo of the three shovelheads, he thought it strange that they did not fly away. One turned to look at him with its beady black eyes. Evidently, the Professor was unaware of the feeding habits of shovelheads.

Mitch slowed as he approached the red light, but he could tell even from the corner of his eye that Eileen was shooting him a look that would peel paint.

Perfect. There’s Deputy Dunbar just parked up there in the lot ahead and looking right at me.

Except for all the points already against his license, Mitch might not have given it a second thought. Of course, not giving things a second thought had accounted for a lot of Mitch’s problems.

That’s sort of why he was driving Eileen to the hospital now…

Og hunts alone now. It is hard to kill animals alone. Mostly, there are berries.

Some of the berries make thunder in Og’s stomach. The thunder wants out. Og squats in the bushes.

Then Og uses the fire leaf by mistake. Now there is burning where Og sits. So much burning that Og screams. The screams bring the spear-mouth and Og must climb the big tree. The spear-mouth can not climb the big tree, but there was something else in the tree. Not a good day for Og.
