Switchback’s March Flash Contest

SwitchbackEach month Switchback provides a prompt for a flash fiction contest. The winning entry as decided by their editors will be featured on Switchback. Contest submissions can be poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or even art but must be 500 words or under. Please send only one submission per prompt and only previously unpublished works. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 pm on the last day of the month.

The March prompt is: “Three men walk into a bar.”

Week 11 Flash Fiction Contest Winner: Shiri Sondheimer

Today we’re pleased to announce the winner of the 11th weekly Flash Fiction competition at Indies Unlimited.

The winning entry is rewarded with a special feature here today and a place in our collection of winners which will be published as an e-book at year end.

Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition

Cut Throat MagazineWriters of short fiction are encouraged to enter the 2012 Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition. The competition has a thirty-one year history of literary excellence, and its organizers are dedicated to enthusiastically supporting the efforts and talent of emerging writers of short fiction whose voices have yet to be heard.

The entry fee is $15 for each story postmarked by May 1, 2012.
