This past week I attended the biggest healthcare finance management conference in the United States. Yeah, I have a real job (sort of.) I know, B-O-R-I-N-G, is what you’re saying. I’ve attended this meeting for the past four or five years. Matter of fact, I presented at this same conference last year.

Here’s where it gets interesting. You see, we (indie authors, publishers, and readers) create a lot of noise about what we do—we reach out to help each other, we post best practices, and we even buy each others books!

For as big as the Indie revolution is, we are actually a small, tight knit group. The reality is, Indies Unlimited has grown dramatically over the past year and a half, yet, how big of a group do we really touch? Continue reading “We’re Here For a Reason”

So This is What It’s Like in the Real World

Wow, so this is what it’s like over in the East Wing. Nice. I’ve been stuck in the dungeon for the past year and a half. Ooh! Windows! No one ever told me that you could actually see the sun and clouds. I bet the gruel is better over here, too.

Create Eye-Popping Headlines for your Blog in Six Easy Steps

Whether you are Tweeting or writing a blog post, your headline is what captures the reader’s attention. I know that I’ve struggled with headlines my whole life. Sometimes I can sit down and pound out 800 words in minutes but it will take me an hour to figure out a six-word headline.

Headlines online are quite different from headlines in newspapers. Online headlines must stand-alone and help the reader decide if they want to click through.
