Week #3 W.E. Contest Winner – David Antrobus

Today we’re pleased to announce the winner of the second weekly “Writing Exercise with a Twist” here at Indies Unlimited.

The winning entry is rewarded with a special feature here today (the pure prestige alone of which cannot even be measured in monetary terms – really), and a place in our collection of winners which will be published as an e-book at year end.

Unfortunately there were some voting irregularities addressed here. After adjusting accordingly, the seven entrants received a total of 44 votes, and claiming nearly 70% of those, the winner is: Contestant #6– Dave Antrobus.

Thank you to everyone who participated – excellent entries! Now, without further ado, (trumpet flourish) here’s the winning entry by David Antrobus: Continue reading “Week #3 W.E. Contest Winner – David Antrobus”

Ed’s Casual Friday: Everyone is a (one) Star.

Bad ReviewAs I’m sure many of my fellow writers have noticed at the various and sundry virtual watering holes around which we are wont to gather, one of the more common posts (right after “Buy my book!”) goes something like “I just got an awful review!” usually expressed with varying degrees of “How could this have possibly happened?”

How could it not have happened? My advice on such occasions is always to pick one of your favorite books of all time, something you think of as an absolute, perfect gem. Then go to any review site and page through the one-star reviews, of which there will likely be hundreds. Continue reading “Ed’s Casual Friday: Everyone is a (one) Star.”

L.A. Lewandowski’s Born to Die – The Montauk Murders

The Montauk Murders

Today we get a sneak peek of author L.A. Lewandowski’s Born to Die – The Montauk Murders:

Born to Die – The Montauk Murders is set amongst the glitz and glamour of the Beau Monde. The 80th birthday of Miranda Richards, an art-world icon, boasts the party of the summer at her exclusive mansion on Long Island. Old resentments and convoluted relationships bubble to the surface as an eclectic, A-list cast of characters celebrate at a Masked Ball. The luxurious trappings of success, however, don’t hinder the agenda of an invited guest with a score to settle. Friends and family are left to wonder— Will I be next? Follow Detective Steele as he sifts through the evidence before the killer strikes again.

Born to Die – The Montauk Murders is available for Kindle on Amazon.com. Continue reading “L.A. Lewandowski’s Born to Die – The Montauk Murders”

Special Announcement on Week #3 IU Writing Exercise Voting

If you look at the poll data, you will see that Garrett Hise (my oldest son, a blogger and writer in his own right) won by a very large margin. However, I reviewed the actual voting records to determine whether there were any irregularities. Unfortunately, there were. The predominate amount of his votes came from the same IP address (someone voting by Verizon Wireless) just a few minutes apart.

Neither he nor I know who this might have been, and I hesitate to call it malicious. It may be that whoever was doing this was simply applying American Idol voting rules. Either way, I realize I may have been remiss in expressly pointing out that only one vote per person is allowed.

By virtue of the adjustment, David Antrobus is this week’s winner. I have contacted both David and Garrett to let them know what happened. David’s OFFICIAL recognition will occur tomorrow as per usual.

In the mean time, I have made adjustments to the vote capturing elements of the software program so this does not happen again. We will also clearly post that only one vote per person is allowed. This ain’t Chicago.

I apologize for any confusion caused by this.
