Preditors and Editors Needs Your Help

We were very pleased to learn that Indies Unlimited has been listed as recommended by Preditors & Editors (P&E) in the site’s Promotional and Marketing Services section.

For those few who may not yet know, Preditors & Editors is a valuable resource for writers, representing something along the lines of a Consumer Reports for the publishing world. Before you shop your manuscript, it pays to check with sites such as P&E. If nothing else, check them out before you ink any deals with anyone.

On a personal note, I will relate that P&E helped keep me from making what could have been a costly mistake. When I first finished my novel, I shopped it to every agent I could find. The only two who responded with interest were listed in P&E as NOT RECOMMENDED.

Both these “agents” saw a lot of promise in my manuscript if only I was willing to invest a little money in editing, formatting, marketing, cover design, publicity, carpet cleaning, etc., and fortunately, they happen to provide exactly such services. What’s On Your Mind?

The talented and underfed staff at Indies Unlimited cuts a wide swath through subjects of interest to our readers, but that doesn’t mean we have covered every topic imaginable or of interest to you.

Sure, we could continue to use our amazing mental powers to divine your areas of interest; or we could just ask you what you’d like to see addressed. That’s the whole point of our reader request feature, You Asked For It.

Last time around, we got questions from IU readers Renee Pierce Williams, Elina Castro, Melody Stiles, J. Johnson Higgins, and Matt Valenti. Our staff divvied up the requests and wrote posts to tackle the questions asked.

So we are asking again. What’s on your mind? What issues, areas, controversies, tutorials, surveys would you like to see IU undertake?

Sleeping Dogs_The AwakeningToday we have a sneak peek from author John Wayne Falbey’s new techno-political thriller, Sleeping Dogs: The Awakening.

Faking their own deaths, they went to ground for twenty years. Now they’re being reunited to stop a foreign power from destroying the US from within. Someone let the Dogs out. This book works the same side of the street as Brad Thor and other modern thriller writers. Closely tracking the issues behind today’s headlines, the plotline weaves cutting edge developments in technology, weaponry, and genetics research with the political intrigue occurring inside the Beltway today.

Eva Caye Announces New Release

DignityAuthor Eva Caye is pleased to announce the release of her new science fiction romance, Dignity.

Why does Emperor Victor Sinclair fall madly in love with Lady Felicia Sorensen? She is a scientist, and the Emperor has only dated socialites who see him as an icon and a prize. Although he entices her with all the resources at his command, from sexual stimulation and outrageously expensive gowns to promising she can ‘write her own job description’, Felicia cautiously learns the differences between love and manipulation and must choose between toughing out the extreme social and political pressures of becoming Empress, and pursuing her scientific achievements. And Victor finds a way for Felicia to do both!

Amy Dixon at The Geek Girl Project gives Dignity five stars and says: “Dignity, by Eva Caye, is a beautifully written, well-crafted science fiction romance. It is also a fine example of excellent character development, even better relationship development, and world building in the form of a complex interplanetary political and governmental framework.”

Dignity was released on August 29, 2012 and is available on Amazon.com and Amazon UK as an e-book.
