Createspace Like Fest

createspace logoAh, the print book. I do love Createspace.  You can create discount coupons for your books there. But you should never use Createspace to format an eBook. How about we forget about eBooks for a while and have a Createspace Print Book Page Like-fest!

This is how it works: If you are an author with a book listed on Createspace.com, in the comments below, write a SHORT one sentence blurb about ONE of your books, then paste in the link to that book below it. (If you post more than one book, to be fair to everyone else, we will delete all except for the top link, so please behave and post only ONE book!) Make sure you show some love to the links in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up.  If you’re a publisher, editor, or reader, please check out these book pages – you may see something you like! (BTW, liking a book on Createspace WILL show up in your FB feed. If you don’t want it there, you’ll need to go into Facebook and manually remove it from your wall.)

There is always some confusion as to which link to use when sharing a book. The diagram below will show you how to find your book’s page. Make sure if you use the search tool that you are searching in the STORE and not the site.

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

This should be fun and should generate a lot of likes for everyone’s books. Let’s get things moving – and here’s a book to get you started:  http://www.createspace.com/4954934 PLEASE do not post erotica titles. IU is a safe-for-work site.

To those with concerns about the ethical implications of “liking” a book you have not read, we regard  likes as more analogous to a “high five” than a rating or review. We do not support the idea of rating or reviewing a book you have never read. If you’re concerned that people will think you are endorsing someone else’s book, you can always just write something like “hey, my friend’s book is on Createspace.”

Goodreads Winter-fest

Happy New Year! Have you been on Goodreads lately? Did you know that advertising on Goodreads is inexpensive and, frankly, fun. Looking at all those statistics on my ads makes me happy. What, you’re not advertising there? Our Melinda Clayton will show you how to advertise with Goodreads. Meanwhile, how about we stir things up with a Goodreads like-fest?

Today you can share your author page and find new friends. For your profile, grab that URL which should look like this: https://www.goodreads.com/KSBrooks and paste it in the comments below.  (Not sure where to find your fancy URL? See the image below and look for the aqua arrow.) goodreads like buttonNow everyone can “Like” your author page.  The “Like” button is found about 1/3 of the way down the page on the same side as the author photo. Clicking on that will show that you like that author’s page on your Facebook wall. There’s also a Google+ button there, so if you have a Google+ account and you’re feeling generous, go ahead and click on that, too. Still not sure where the “like” button is? Click on this thumbnail to enlarge it and look for the magenta arrow.

[Don’t forget, if you right-click the links, you can choose to have them open in a separate tab so you don’t have to worry about navigating back and forth to pages.]

PLEASE be sure to reciprocate by liking those who like you. This is give and take. If everyone plays by the golden rule, we all benefit.

Wattpad Holiday Fest

how to Follow someone on WattpadNot too long ago, our Kathy Rowe wrote about how Wattpad had helped her get her writing back on track. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to check Wattpad out and get some good stuff up there for the world to see. Now you’re ready for our Wattpad Follow Fest.

This is how it works: If you are an author, publisher, publicist, literary agent, book reviewer, librarian (or especially a book-lover), etc., in the comments below, paste in the link for your Wattpad profile. Make sure you show some love to the profiles in the comments above yours, and check back throughout the day to catch up. To get your url, merely go to your profile and copy the link next to the BIG pink arrow at the top of the picture above (i.e. – http://www.wattpad.com/user/KSBrooks).

Click on the person’s link in the comments section below, and you will go to their profile. Then click Follow. (See photo above.)

This should be fun and should generate a lot of exposure for everyone who plays. Let’s get the party started!
