Kristina Jackson and L.A. Tripp Launch Inspiring Indies

Indie authors need all the help we can get—every single edge can make a difference in getting our book in front of more readers and help establish our brands.

I did not invent blogging, contrary to wildly inaccurate claims being made in the upcoming autobiography I am now writing. Nonetheless, I was touched when Kristina Jackson reached out to let me know she and Toney L.A. Tripp were starting a blog to help indie authors. It made me feel like the Godfather. I blessed her and sent her on her way, reminding her that the day may come when I will ask her for a favor. I don’t want her to worry about it. That day may never come—except it will. I’m thinking a week from Tuesday. Continue reading “Kristina Jackson and L.A. Tripp Launch Inspiring Indies”

Valerie Douglas Added to Indies Unlimited Team!

Author Valerie Douglas

I am very pleased to announce that the ubiquitous and much-respected author Valerie Douglas will be joining Indies Unlimited as a contributor. Val is a prolific and multi-genre author who has appeared here on the blog several times.

Val has been and will continue to be a force in the indie community, mentoring and supporting others, and championing the cause of indie authors.

Unfortunately for Val, she also has a wicked sense of humor, which will make her a great fit for this outfit. and we are all very excited about having her on board. On behalf of Kat, JD, Ed, Cathy and myself, we extend a warm IU welcome to Valerie Douglas and invite all of you to do the same.

Indies Unlimited Welcomes M. Edward McNally to the Team!

Ed McNally

Indies Unlimited has acquired McNally Global in a hostile takeover bid. I am pleased to announce that my long time arch-nemesis and respected colleague Michael Edward “Ed” McNally will be joining Indies Unlimited as a contributing author. Ed will bring the kind of gravitas and intellectual firepower needed to class up this joint. I don’t care where he gets it, as long as he brings it.

Ed is a quick wit, a skilled writer and an all-around good guy. You’ll be seeing his posts here on a weekly basis.

In addition, Ed is a good friend and the author of The Norothian Cycle, an epic fantasy series.  I read the first of these, The Sable City. I was extremely impressed with McNally’s writing and imagination. I highly recommend it.

Please join Kat, JD, Cathy and me in welcoming Ed McNally to Indies Unlimited!

Writing Exercises Return with a Twist!

Tenderness by K. S. Brooks

You may know by now that my partner in crime here at Indies Unlimited is K.S. “Kat” Brooks.   Not only is she an award-winning author, but she’s also a highly decorated photographer.  Way back in 1996 (did they even have cameras back then?) her photographic works began to receive much attention by winning multiple international awards from Kodak, and being featured in numerous one-man art shows at galleries in the Boston area. Her stuff has been featured in books, magazines, and even in the Boston Globe.

Since I am the Evil Mastermind in charge here, I’ve decided it would be a good idea to fully exploit all the talents of my minions.  Of course, I made it seem like it was Kat’s idea.  I’m tricky that way.

All kidding aside for a moment, Kat and I do a lot of brainstorming to come up with new and innovative ways to help indie authors spread their names and brand beyond their existing social network capacity.

We have come up with an idea which brings back the writing exercises – but with a special twist. Beginning Saturday, Dec. 31st 2011, we will post a weekly photo-prompt writing exercise/contest. Here’s how it will work: Continue reading “Writing Exercises Return with a Twist!”
