My Not-So-Spiritual Journey of Self-Publishing

I am one of many (read: more than the entire population of Canada) self-published authors out there. We are legion, for we are many…or however that goes. In today’s eMarkets, anyone with Microsoft Word can type out a manuscript and upload it for sale via eBook retailers like Amazon and Kobo. But this is no guarantee for success, no matter how amazing and wonderful your book is (according to your mother, anyways). The big publishers have the moolah and resources that we little ol’ wannabe authors don’t, so very, very few indie authors find independent success. Library Journal’s SELF-e Program for Self-Published eBooks

Library Journal SELF-e LogoLibrary Journal is arguably one of the most respected catalogs relied upon for book selections by public libraries. Historically, they’ve only listed books by big-name publishers, but in 2015 that all changed when Library Journal and Biblioboard partnered to form the SELF-e program for self-published and small press authors.

Nearly a year ago, our own Melissa Bowersock interviewed Mitchell Davis, one of the founders of BiblioBoard. The interview makes for interesting reading, covering the inspiration and genesis of the program, as well as benefits to both libraries and authors.
