All writing requires a setting, something to connect that writing to. In the case of technical or scientific writing the setting will be the program, research, or piece of machinery you wish to explain. In the case of non-fiction it will be based on a real place and time.

Magic Realism, or Magical Realism, has become a hotly discussed term among writers of both fiction and non-fiction. Indeed, some would argue that it has no place in fiction. Others disagree. It is also discussed in other art forms but I will stick to writing in this post.
I have been participating in a few groups where these discussions take place, mostly as a fly on the wall, listening and learning, occasionally offering a beginner’s question or comment. My interest was piqued when two other writers suggested that my books could fall into that category. On January 18th I held a launch party for the final book in the Earth’s Pendulum trilogy, The Dreamt Child. I think it was a success. You may decide if you agree with me when this is finished. No, no, you are not required to tell me where I messed up. It’s OK. Others already have. Just kidding.
As this was the third book, I have presumably learned a few things along the way. Now I’d like to share that vast wealth of knowledge with the rest of you. Two years ago, when I published Through Kestrel’s Eyes with the Kindle KDP program I had only one email address. Everything associated with Amazon – Kindle, Createspace, Amazon.com and my Kindle devices – were connected to that email. There had never been issues until I published this second book.
When I tried to access my KDP account I found it blocked. Email is KDP’s only option for customer service – ever – no matter what. Keep that in mind as I proceed. Continue reading “Email Jail, KDP and Me”
