Sneak Peek: Hym and Hur by Phillip Frey

HYM & HURToday we have a sneak peek of author Philip Frey’s fantasy-comedy Hym and Hur:

Hym and Hur are a young couple who never age and have been in love for more than a century. They also possess magical abilities, two of which are either to play pranks on humankind or to perform good deeds. Enacting both at once is now what gets them into trouble, especially since it’s the unruly character of Death they must deal with to bring their plans to fruition.

The prank Hym and Hur have come up with must first be agreed upon by Death, who happens to be a rambunctious, difficult character. Once agreed upon, the prank is set in motion. Hym and Hur soon discover Death had tricked them into a contract with dire consequences for all of us.

Hym and Hur is available on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, iTunes and Kobo Books. Continue reading “Sneak Peek: Hym and Hur by Phillip Frey”

Rudy Strauss wants to help with her business. Virginia, wisely suspicious, refuses. He shifts his trademark toothpicks to the other side of his mouth and asks about her niece, Laura, and Laura’s nineteen-month-old son, Todd. Virginia warns him off, but Rudy is intrigued.

Laura is movie star beautiful but it is her ex-husband, Phillip, who is an actor. Laura, a writer, is devastated when Todd’s nanny calls, hysterical, saying Laura’s son has been kidnapped.

Pin the Phrase on the Author

This should be some fun. Everyone has gotten a chance to read articles by the IU staff, but could you pick their writing out of a lineup?

Below, you will see lines excerpted from the books of five Indies Unlimited authors. Can you tell which author wrote which line? Bonus points if you also know the book from which the line comes!

Below and to the left are pictures of the IU authors and next to each, a line from a book. The authors are not next to the lines from their own books. Or are they? See if you can mix and match the author with the line. Put your guesses in the comment section below (1. author name, 2. author name, etc.). The winner gets bragging rights.

Answers will be posted at 2 PM Pacific Time on Sunday, April 15. Good luck!
