Cory Wells-Richards left her cheating husband behind and headed straight back to tiny Faythe, Wisconsin, eager to create a new future for herself. First order of business, keep her promise to a dear friend and finish the renovation on the Victorian for dearly departed Tillie and find homes for her nine cats. How tough could that be? But when Tillie’s great-nephew shows up to help, it’s all she can do not to fall right back into his arms. She’s been down that heartbreak road with him before, and coming off her recent divorce she’s determined to guard her heart, no matter how sexy he looks with a hammer in his hand and his shirt off.

Jake is caught between a rock and a hard place. Well, between his party-hearty, successful big city life in Chicago and the sleepy hometown he was glad to see in his rearview mirror at the tender age of 18. He plans to fulfill his promise to Tillie and help restore her house to get it ready to sell, then return to his comfortable life in Chicago. But how is he supposed to get any work done with pretty little Cory around doing her best to drive him crazy? Being in Faythe rekindles all those long forgotten memories, some bad and some good–including his desire for Cory, the one girl he couldn’t have.

Top d20 Signs You May Be An Epic Fantasy Writer

While I usually try to keep Ed’s Casual Friday to topics that might be of general interest to writers / readers of all kinds, today I admit I am staying in my wheelhouse. What follows is a list relating mostly to writers of Epic Fantasy, though some items will fit any sort of writer with a couple different words substituted. Others are probably unique to the species. Also, if you at any time sense an implication that I am saying you MUST have been (or still be) a Dungeons & Dragons nerd to write Epic Fantasy, I am really not saying that. Though I will say that it helps. 😉 Continue reading “Top d20 Signs You May Be An Epic Fantasy Writer”

“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

The Greatest

Bravado and bragging worked for Muhammad Ali but it is a different story for authors. (Sorry about the pun.) Now, I might be behaving like a jumped up Brit about this subject, after all, I am one of those old-fashioned sort who opens doors for old people and still manages to say “thank you” when the spotty-faced individual in the coffee shop manages to slop coffee into my saucer. Book Brief: The Marann

The Marann
by Christie Meierz
Genre: Space Opera / Futuristic Romance
Word count: 62,000

A story that will appeal to fans of Marion Zimmer Bradley and Zenna Henderson, The Marann recounts one woman’s experience on a world where everyone can read her emotions.

Marianne Woolsey is a high school Spanish teacher in rural Iowa, when Earth Central Command decides her linguistic talents would be better exercised if she spent 26 years teaching the daughter of an alien ruler on a planet 24 light years from Earth. Deeply wounded by a childhood trauma, she avoids men, but now she’s thrown into close contact with a man who is as gentle as he is dangerous.

Driven by duty, and deadly to anyone who dares cross him, the Sural has ruled his province and led his planet far longer than he can admit to his daughter’s human tutor. He hides much more from the space-faring races of the Trade Alliance than he is willing to reveal. What he doesn’t want Central Command to know, he has to conceal from Marianne, but that becomes increasingly difficult as years pass and her exotic beauty of both body and soul breaks down the walls he long ago built around his heart.

The book is available from Amazon, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble. Continue reading “Book Brief: The Marann”
