There's romance, and then there are romantic novels. True aficionados will tell you there's a difference.
I'm not into romance novels, but romantic novels… some are very very good.
I concur.
John Fante "Full of Life"
Have not read them all…once over my teen years, or late twenties, the appeal faded.
I've read them all, and I think Nora Robert's good, but very occasionally. Writing's big business for her, and it shows in quite a few of her books. I like Sandra Brown and Mary Higgins Clark. Solid plots, with a dab of romance.
Hmmmm… I'm wondering why Kathleen Woodwiss was not on the list, (may she rest in peace). It's just my opinion, but I think she was the best.
Yes, I agree with Diana, Kathleen Woodiwiss and June Lund Shiplett, may they both rest in peace, in my opinion should be on the list. While the ones on the list are good in their time, I'd vote for June first and Kathleen second. I have always been an avid reader of romance, what I basically started reading, and I have read a lot of them including the ones on the list (and met two of them in person at the SF RWA conference in 1989), but unfortunately I wouldn't vote for any on the list, unless I was forced to by Stephen, lol…then it would have to be Janet Dailey. And of course, this is just my opinion, too.
What? No Nicholas Sparks …
