Pop culture, famous “A” list actors and mega sports stars fill the media spotlight. Huge numbers of fans flock to be a part of the “in” crowd or to see their hero in person. Jimmy Buffett, Phish, Lady Gaga or Kenny Chesney sellout concerts in less than twenty minutes.
All performers and athletes connect with their fans causing everything from mild hysteria to crazy outfits and painted faces. The old black and white clips of fainting girls in the presence of Elvis or the Beatles has become an indelible image in our history. Wrangling cattle is a hard way to make a living. Asa Walker was hot and dirty and tired and thirsty. He was shocked at how much prices had gone up since his last trip to Dodge.
He counted out the few silver coins he’d been paid and figured if he bought a bed, bath and a hot meal, he wouldn’t have enough left for a few drinks, a little respectable gambling, nor any to entertain a young lady.
He reckoned at these here prices, a man would pretty near have to rob a bank to stand half a chance of a decent night’s entertainment. That was when the idea struck him…
