Fighting the Good Fight

I love gardening. I plant my seeds and nurture them through the most delicate stage of their evolution. I plant them in nutrient rich soil and water them sparingly. I put them in a warm and sunny spot and let them cook.

The seeds discover their own truth within and believe in it strongly enough to break through the soil that cocoons. They learn to grow within, expanding their roots so that they can stand tall expressing their own authentic natures. Continue reading “Fighting the Good Fight”

Flash Fiction Challenge: Amish Hit Job

Seth and Amos and I saw the fancy rig waiting outside as we walked up. The driver sat there stoically, waiting for his passenger to return.

There was no mistaking it. This was the Amish mafia. Somebody must’ve failed to show up to the midnight barn raising.

Now there would be a shunning going on – a brutal shunning, indeed. To our everlasting shame, we averted our eyes and quickly walked by.

Yet, we were not to escape unscathed. As we turned the corner, we saw the carriage start our way. The driver’s eyes bore at us. Just when it seemed there was no escape…

In 250 words or less, tell us a story incorporating the elements in the picture. The 250 word limit will be strictly enforced.

Of Apple, E-books, and Game-changers

The Apple e-book price-fixing trial finally got underway in U.S. federal court in Manhattan last week. Five of the six original defendants – the Big Five publishers – agreed to settle with the government, leaving Apple as the sole defendant at trial.

I’m tempted to insert a pun here about the U.S. Justice Department making like William Tell and aiming the arrow of the law straight at Apple. But I’m restraining myself because this is serious business. Continue reading “Of Apple, E-books, and Game-changers”
