Book Brief: CIA Fall Guy

CIA Fall Guy: A Spy Thriller
by Phyllis Zimbler Miller
Genre: Romantic suspense spy story
Word count: 36,800

This romantic suspense spy story takes place in 1997 when Beth Parsons is called to CIA headquarters and asked to identify someone from when she worked for a U.S. Army intelligence unit in Munich, Germany.

When what Beth is told doesn’t add up, she fears she may become a fall guy for the CIA. She escapes her CIA “babysitter” and sets off to discover why she is suddenly back in the world of espionage.

Her quest takes her to Europe and then back to the U.S., and pairs her with the man who may have been responsible for her husband’s death.

If you like spy stories and tales of intrigue — especially ones with a dash of romantic suspense, CIA FALL GUY is for you!

This book is available from Amazon.

Phyllis, how did you come up with the title for your book? Does it have any special meaning?
The protagonist, Beth Parsons, is determined not to become a fall guy for the CIA.

Who was your favorite character and why?
The protagonist, Beth Parsons, is my favorite character because she takes matters into her own hands.

Does your book have any underlying theme, message, or moral?
The bombing at the U.S. Army’s Frankfurt Officers Club is a real event that occurred in May 1972. Parts of the book are based on my own knowledge learned when I worked as a civilian for the 66th Military Intelligence Group in Munich, Germany, from 1971-1972.

What would/could a reader or reviewer say about this book that shows they “get” you as an author?
CIA FALL GUY portrays a woman protagonist taking an active role rather than waiting for events to happen to her.

Give us an excerpted quote from your favorite review of this book:
I was locked into this book from the very start and stayed there all the way to the end. Exactly the kind of book I like to read. Will look for more by this author.
