In The Shadows, the first of The Shadows trilogy, is an urban fantasy of vampires and the supernatural, and much, much more. In the shadows you will find lust and passion, battles for power and for blood, and death and fear around every corner. In the shadows you are carried away to an unknown future. Your destiny awaits, and you are no longer who you thought you were. You have a thirst, for blood perhaps, but a thirst for very much more than that.
Giselle was a normal girl with an attitude common to most girls of her age. Her family might not have been perfect (whose is?) but she loved them, and her future looked bright. She had an awesome best friend and a steady boyfriend, but how could she possibly have been so wrong about someone she loved? And how could she have been prepared for the darkness and for what she was to become?
This title is available from Amazon US, Amazon UK, Smashwords, and Barnes and Noble.
Julieanne, how did you come up with the title for your book? Does it have any special meaning?
The book was originally going to be called “The Shadows World”, but halfway through writing, my MC was always running from the beings trying to take her, I thought “In The Shadows” was better suited.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I adore Antoine; he’s dangerous, yet loving. He’s intelligent, trustworthy and is Giselle’s biggest ally. He is a fun character to write, and each time I think that I can’t make him any more interesting, he just gets better and bolder, and I love him.
Does your book have any underlying theme, message, or moral?
I would like to inspire more people to cherish those around them because you never know when your life could all fall apart.
What would/could a reader or reviewer say about your writing that shows they “get” you as an author?
I draw them into my world quite easily. I write in a simple, yet creative fashion, and clearly show what is happening, not only telling. My idea is original and unique, and is quite bold, which in my eyes, makes for great reading.
